Mediocalcar decoratum is the cutest orchid on earth! With its short leaves, sausage-like links, and mini-pumpkin shaped (and colored) flowers, it is one of the most distinctive orchids anywhere. It hails from Papua New Guinea, an exotic locale full of exotic plants (and headhunters, too) but fortunately, ths plant is exceptionally easy to grow. While it starts off small, it will eventually grow outwards in all directions to cover its surface. It grows well on mounts (in high humidity conditions) and is absolutely perfect for vivarium and terrarium growth. To care for this plant, simply mist/water with high-quality water (reverse osmosis, distilled, or rainwater) twice per week, and fertilize twice per month. Avoid direct sun; moderate shady conditions are best. The best growing media is New Zealand Sphagnum Moss (which we also offer here on our website).

PLEASE NOTE that this is a very small plant we are offering – the sizes we offer are clearly shown in the pictures with the pencil tip so you can see what you’re getting. The pics of the in-bloom plants show what a full-grown plant will look like, but these plants are not being offered. The plant you receive will be shipped bare root (with a bit of moist material around the roots) and will not be in bloom when shipped.
